Our Motives Are Revealed By Our Grip

In Matthew 19 a wealthy man wants to enter the kingdom and in response to Jesus’ questions he claims he has kept every commandment

Jesus said ok then sell all you have. At that point the man gets sad. His MOTIVES ARE REVEALED in that moment

For YEARS I misinterpreted this text to mean wealth was a bad thing. What the word is saying is don’t make wealth an idol

And how do we know we’ve made it an idol?

When our GRIP is TIGHTER FOR THINGS THAN FOR GODS WORD GODS WILL OR GODS WAY

Lord I want my motives to be to serve you. My pursuit for anything in this world is secondary to my pursuit for more of YOU GOD.

Today I place my motives on the altar. Lord show me where they’re not aligned to your will or your way.

Will you join me and place your motives on the altar?
